2016-17 Season Preview

Lysander Trio is looking forward to an exciting season, with several notable debuts, collaborations, and new works!

The ensemble gives debut recitals at Spivey Hall in Atlanta and at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in Palm Beach, collaborates with eminent clarinetist Charles Neidich at the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society and violist Jennifer Stumm at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and embarks on a week-long tour of Israel.

The group is looking forward to adding more new works to its repertoire, including the world premiere of Around the Cauldron by Gilad Cohen, winner of the 2016 Barlow Prize (2016, commissioned by CAG with support from the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund) and two major recent works by women composers: Kaija Saariaho's Light and Matter (2014) and Augusta Read Thomas' Klee Musings (2016). In one of its signature thematic explorations, Lysander takes the audience on a musical cruise of the Mediterranean, pairing Turkish composer Ilhan Baran's Transformations with Enrique Granados "Intermezzo" from Goyescas, which also celebrates the Spanish composer's 150th anniversary.

Lysander continues its collaboration with Midori's Partners-in-Performance program with a residency at Music in Corrales in New Mexico. Further engagements include a return to Chamber Music Tulsa for a three-concert residency and performances in Melbourne, FL, at UCLA, Little Rock, AR, and more.
